BenRiach – Smoke Season Single Malt (52.8%)

This is BenRiach Smoke Season, a Speyside single malt bottled at 52.8%. It was made from 100% heavily peated malt to a recipe refined by master blender Dr Rachel Barrie, and is the most intensely smoked whisky released by the distillery. It was matured in two types of cask, virgin American oak and bourbon barrels, chosen to bring out the toasted, sweet notes in the smoky spirit. The nose combines smoke and caramel with citrus peel and oak spice. The palate brings smoky dark vanilla, seared apples and cinnamon with a touch of orange, leading to a sweet, smoky finish.
