Black Bottle 10 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky that sets Islay smoke against fruit and sweetness. The blend includes peated Bunnahabhain Mòine, and the whisky is matured in American oak. It follows the ten year old release of 1998.
The brand began with the brothers Charles, David and Gordon Graham, who moved from Torphins to Aberdeen in 1879 and first blended tea before turning to whisky. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose combines ripe pear with peat smoke, oak, honey and vanilla. On the palate, green apple meets caramel and sponge, with sweet oak and smoky spice. The long finish brings sweet pepper, glowing charcoal, dark smoke and a note of sea salt.
