Black Maple Hill 16 Year Old Small Batch Straight Bourbon (75cl, 47.5%)

A 16-year-old small batch Kentucky straight bourbon from Black Maple Hill, bottled at 47.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Black Maple Hill is a sourced label: it did not distil its own whiskey but selected aged barrels from Kentucky distilleries, with barrel selection overseen by Julian Van Winkle III. This release is a small batch, made by mingling a handful of selected barrels rather than drawing on a single one. The nose is caramel, vanilla and toasted oak. The palate shows toffee, dried fruit and warm spice, and the finish is long and warm, with oak and caramel.
