This Blair Athol was distilled in 2011 and matured for ten years in a first fill red wine barrique. It was bottled in November 2021 by Uncharted Whisky, an independent bottler founded in 2020, at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The name Strawberry Fields comes from the scent of fresh red berries.
The nose is fruity from the start, with oak, strawberry jam, a touch of chocolate and a spicy warmth. On the palate come crushed black pepper, soft red fruits, jam, dried fruit and chocolate, with hints of leather, oak and vanilla. The warmth stays long in the finish, with chocolate, leather and a drying spice.
