This is a 14-year-old Highland single malt from Blair Athol, distilled in September 2006 and bottled by North Star Spirits as Series 16 of its Single Mezcal Cask releases. It is bottled at 49% ABV in a 70cl bottle, one of 196 bottles.
The whisky was finished in an ex-Mezcal hogshead.
The nose is zesty lime, pressed sugarcane, tropical fruits and cinnamon. On the palate, pineapple and fresh melon mingle with warming spice and prickles of pepper. The finish brings prunes, dates and a gentle nuttiness, with toasted oak, floral herbs and a citrus tang.
