This is a single cask Blair Athol from the independent bottler North Star Spirits, released as part of its Cask Series 021. It was distilled in 2006 and bottled at 16 years old and 49.5% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky first matured in a refill hogshead and finished its maturation in an oloroso sherry hogshead. 287 bottles were released in 2022.
The nose is nutty, with toasted marzipan, caramelised biscuits and a dusting of cocoa. Roasted malt, praline and sultanas meet cinnamon and mocha on the palate, and the finish carries maple syrup, fudge, baking spice and peppery oak.
