This is a 23-year-old Blair Athol from the 1993 vintage, released in Diageo's Special Releases series in a 70cl bottle at 58.4% ABV. It matured in a European oak sherry butt that had been scraped, toasted, recharred and refilled with fortified wine in the UK before the whisky went in. It was the first time the distillery appeared in the annual Special Releases, and 5514 bottles were produced. The nose combines figs, damsons and raisins with strawberry jam, Morello cherries, burnt toffee and maple syrup. The palate brings strawberry jam, cherryade, citrus and prunes, with Assam tea and peppermint late on. The finish is long and spicy, with peppermint, burnt toffee and salted caramel.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
