This is a 38-year-old single cask Highland single malt from Blair Athol, from the 1986 vintage, bottled independently by One8Nine. It is bottled at 51.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with 122 bottles produced.
The whisky matured in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead.
The nose offers forest fruits, with blackberries and blackcurrants, warm oak and a background of toasted almond. The palate is full-bodied with a mouth-coating texture, dark cocoa powder and a reduction of dark berry compote, with a slightly herbaceous, earthy base. The finish is long, with soft oak, more dark chocolate and a lingering sweetness of candied orange peel.
