This is an Irish single pot still whiskey from Boann, bottled at 47% in a 70cl bottle. The distillate was made from a mixed mash of malted barley, unmalted barley, oats and rye, all of it Irish and grown locally. It was first matured in heavily charred ex-bourbon barrels, then moved into vintage Madeira casks sourced in collaboration with the Madeira house Justino's. The casks held single-variety Colheita wines: Tinta Negro from 1998 and 2000, Boal from 1999, and Sercial from 1999, 2000 and 2006. They were formerly 350-litre French oak Cognac casks, and the wines inside ranged from sweet to medium to dry. The label design is built around water, a nod to the Boyne River and the North Atlantic around Madeira.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
