Boulder Spirits Peated American Single Malt is made in Boulder, Colorado, in a copper pot still from malted barley, with peated malt providing the smoke. It matures for at least three years in new, freshly charred American white oak casks, charred to Char #3, in Colorado's dry, high climate. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The peat is kept fairly light, so it sits alongside the other flavours rather than dominating them.
The nose shows peat smoke with plum, strawberry, malt and toasted oak. The palate is oily and full, with dark chocolate, pear, coffee, cocoa and caramel, then earth, oak and clove. The lasting finish keeps smoke, coffee, dark chocolate and caramel, with lightly dry oak.
