Bowmore 12 Year Old is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky from the Bowmore Distillery, which stands on the shores of Loch Indaal. It is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and comes in a 75cl bottle.
The style balances subtle peat smoke with sweet honeyed fruit and a light coastal saltiness. It is a warm amber gold in the glass, with a medium body.
The nose offers peat smoke, dark chocolate, honey and fresh lemon, with a touch of sea spray. On the palate come honeyed malt, ripe orange peel and soft oak spice, and the finish is long and mellow, with smoke and sweet fruit lingering.
