The fourth release in Bowmore's Tempest series, a 10-year-old Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle. A small batch of first-fill bourbon casks was married and bottled at cask strength.
The nose combines sweet grain, coal smoke, concentrated fruit and spice, grapefruit skin and butter icing, with milk chocolate, pine needles and brine appearing when water is added. The palate starts with sour cream, vanilla, lemon zest and bitter orange, then moves to sweet coal and green wood. The finish is short at first, with wood and apple skin, before vanilla and floral notes return.
