Sator Arepo is a 13-year-old Braeval, bottled at 54.5% ABV in a 35cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in a Garrison Brothers cask, then given a nine-month finish in a demi-fût made specially for it and previously filled with an Auslese wine from Grünfränkisch, a nearly extinct grape variety.
The nose combines warm vanilla, caramel and toasted oak with ripe apricot, quince jelly and candied orange peel. Toffee, yellow fruit and honeyed sweetness shape the palate, with oak spice, cinnamon and bitter cocoa. The finish is long, with toasted oak, vanilla and candied citrus peel.
