Braulio Amaro Alpino is a traditional Italian amaro from Bormio in the Valtellina region, near the Stelvio National Park. It is made from a closely guarded blend of 13 herbs and botanicals, including gentian, juniper, wormwood and yarrow, macerated in alcohol and aged for two years in Slavonian oak barrels. The amaro has a deeply aromatic, herb-forward profile with nuanced bitterness and warming herbal complexity. It is suited to serving after dinner or in cocktails. On the nose there are alpine botanicals, juniper, menthol-tinged mint, citrus peel and earthy gentian. The palate is richly herbal and bittersweet, with gentian, wormwood, chamomile, sage and citrus zest, balanced by a touch of honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and lingering, with cooling menthol, licorice and floral notes.
