Brave New Spirits Blended Scotch Whisky 20 Year Old WhiskyHeroes: Enigma of the Elite (70cl, 44.7%)

Enigma of the Elite is a 20 year old blended Scotch from the third release of the WhiskyHeroes series by Brave New Spirits. It combines Speyside malt with Lowland grain and matured in a single bourbon hogshead, which gave 295 bottles at 44.7%, without chill-filtration or added colour. The comic-style label draws on the series' hero characters. Alongside a sweet side of brittle and caramel pastry, there are notes of dried orange, garden herbs and floral touches. The nose opens with honey brittle and dried orange peel, with hawthorn blossom and fresh garden herbs. The palate joins sweet caramel pastry and candied citrus peel with a little thyme and a hint of violet. The medium-length finish brings herb honey, light citrus bitterness and floral spice.
