Broger – 6 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch 1 (50cl, 62.3%)

Broger 6 Year Old is an Austrian single malt from the Broger distillery in Klaus, near the Swiss-Austrian border. It was bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company as the first release in their Norwest-Euro Express series, which celebrates European whisky. The Broger family own the distillery and carry out all of its operations on site in their free time. This heavily peated whisky was matured in a single French Limousin oak cask and bottled at a cask strength of 62.3%, giving 374 half-litre bottles. The nose is big, with farmyard funk and peaty tar, dark pipe tobacco, rubber and liquorice, over caramel, barbecue sauce and sandalwood. The palate is oily and chewy, with woodsmoke, chimney soot, liquorice root and a sweet citrus note.
