A 21 year old single cask Brora from the Highlands, distilled in 1982 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 61.18, Matured To Elegance. It was matured in a single bourbon hogshead and 279 bottles were produced.
Brora was originally known as Clynelish, and the distillery has long been closed.
The nose opens with caramel, butter biscuits, mineral smoke, musty sheds, engine oil and orange zest. The palate is creamy and milky, moving to caramel, toffee and ginger spice, with lighter earthy peat. The finish lingers, a touch hot, with marshmallow, sea salt, shortbread, melon and honey.
