The Botanist is an Islay dry gin from Bruichladdich. Nine classic gin botanicals are joined by 22 local herbs and flowers, foraged by hand from the hills, shores and bogs of the island, and the gin is made by slow distillation.
The nose brings sweet menthol, apple mint, juniper, coriander with aniseed, lemon and orange peel, and summer flowers, with honey and wild mint. The palate is rich and mellow, cool on entry and warming towards the back, with fresh citrus. The finish is relaxed and balanced, with water mint, hawthorn, wood sage, sweet cicely, cinnamon, citrus and soft juniper in a satin-soft texture.
