The Botanist Cask Rested is an Islay dry gin from Bruichladdich Distillery, matured for a minimum of six months in a selection of casks. It is bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle.
The gin is built on 22 hand-foraged botanicals, and the time in wood adds baking spices and a touch of dried fruit to their floral, herbaceous character. The cask also brings extra viscosity and a deeper mouthfeel.
On the nose there are warming spices, candied citrus peel, perfumed juniper and oak, with orange, cinnamon, coconut and almond emerging. The palate is soft and balanced. The finish moves from fading oak to fresh herbs, juniper, coriander and citrus.
