This is a 34 year old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, distilled in 1989 and matured in a single refill American oak hogshead. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it in its Connoisseurs Choice series, which is built around individually selected casks, and 165 bottles were produced.
The nose combines orange oil, fresh-cut grass and green apple, with salted lemons, grapefruit and mature oak. On the palate are pineapple and citrus fruits with coconut, then roasted peanuts and sweet white chocolate, giving way to a subtle herbal note. The finish is full and long, with lasting spice and lemon peel.
