Bushmills 12 Year Old is a single malt Irish whiskey from the Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is made from unpeated malted barley and triple-distilled in copper pot stills.
The whiskey matures for at least 11 years, in ex-bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry butts kept separate, then the two are married and finished for 6 to 12 months in Marsala wine casks. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
Tasting notes describe a sweet, perfumed nose of dried apricot, spiced dates and caramelised apple, and a silky palate of golden raisins, poached pear and milk chocolate. The finish is medium to long, with dried fruit and honeyed oak.
