Bushmills 25 Year Old is a single malt Irish whiskey from the Old Bushmills Distillery on the north coast of County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is distilled from unpeated malted barley and triple-distilled in copper pot stills. It is bottled at 46% (92 proof), non-chill filtered and at natural colour, in a heavy decanter-style bottle.
The whiskey spends its first four to six years in ex-bourbon American oak barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry butts. It then has a 21-year finishing period in first-fill ruby port pipes.
The nose is deep and perfumed, with red fruit compote, black cherries, damson and figs, then dark honey, pipe tobacco and cedar. The palate is velvety, with blackberry, candied orange peel and dark chocolate. The finish is very long and warm, with dried dark fruit, cocoa and port sweetness.
