Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey (40%)

This is a blended Irish whiskey from the Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, bottled at 80 proof (40%). It is built around triple-distilled single malt aged for a minimum of five years in charred American oak ex-bourbon barrels, blended with Irish grain whiskey. It has a light golden-straw colour. The nose is fresh and sweet, with green apples, pear skins, honeyed cereal, vanilla blossom, elderflower and soft charred oak. The palate opens with clover honey, vanilla wafer and sweet corn, then moves to orchard fruit, malt biscuit and gentle spice of white pepper and nutmeg. The finish is short to medium, with dried apple peel, cereal malt and toasted oak.
