Cadenhead's Original Collection Ardmore 11 Year Old is an independent bottling of a Highland single malt, bottled at 46% ABV. The whisky matured for 11 years in a mix of 70% ex-Marsala and 30% ex-Bourbon casks.
The Marsala casks bring fortified-wine sweetness and juicy fruit, set against Ardmore's smoke, which runs coastal and savoury.
On the nose there is smoked sausage, beach pebbles and sticky barbecue sauce. The palate shows light coal soot and gentle saltiness, and the finish carries burnt orange peel with fruit and smoke.
