Caisteal Chamuis Bourbon Barrel (70cl, 46%)

Caisteal Chamuis Bourbon Barrel is a heavily peated blended malt made from single malts of the Scottish islands. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. The component malts mature first in refill and first-fill American oak hogsheads. They are then married and moved into smaller 200-litre first-fill bourbon barrels for a second maturation, which adds fragrant, smoky oak, softens the medicinal notes and brings more sweetness and vanilla. Mossburn Distillers selects, blends and bottles it. The nose is led by strong peat smoke with a little brine, vanilla and mild oak spice. The palate is full and creamy, with smoke, vanilla and caramel, and the finish is long and warming.
