Campo Azul 1940 Blanco is a tequila from Jesus Maria in the Jalisco highlands, Los Altos. The name marks 1940, the birth year of the founder, Don Ricardo Lopez.
The blue agave is grown for seven to eight years before harvest, then cooked in masonry ovens for 30 hours with steam, followed by a further 24 hours of resting. It is milled with a roller mill, fermented for 78 hours in stainless steel tanks and double distilled in stainless steel pot stills with a copper coil.
The nose is herbal with sweet agave. On the palate come fresh agave and citrus fruits, with a touch of mint and eucalyptus.
