This Caol Ila is a single cask Islay malt selected by Elixir Distillers for its Single Malts of Scotland range. It was distilled on 25 January 2011 and bottled on 7 June 2023 after twelve years in a butt, giving 600 bottles at a cask strength of 61.2%. It is bottled without chill-filtration or added colour.
The distillery was founded in 1846 on the eastern shore of Islay, facing Jura.
The nose combines cool peat smoke, salty sea air, ripe lemons and a grainy malt note. On the palate come salt, lively citrus and strong pepper, with a firm malt core. The finish is long, with dry ash smoke and lingering sea salt.
