Caol Ila 13 Year Old Discovery is an Islay single malt bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 43% ABV. It was distilled at Caol Ila and matured in ex-bourbon casks. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, a golden honey in the glass.
It belongs to the Discovery range and has a medium to full body with a slightly oily feel. The nose offers salted butter on baguette, smoke, honey, vanilla toffee, honeydew melon, graham biscuit, spice and lemon peel, with soft green notes. The palate echoes this with caramel and a touch of chalkiness. The finish is long, with smoke, honey, vanilla, herbs and spice, ending on a dessert-like note.
