This is a 14 year old single cask Caol Ila from Islay, distilled on 10 May 2011 and bottled on 4 August 2025 by Best Dram at a cask strength of 58.7%. It comes from a first fill red wine barrique, cask 900098, and yielded 279 bottles.
The red wine cask brings dark fruit, fine tannins and a dry, winey edge alongside the ashy peat smoke and coastal character of the distillery.
The nose offers ripe red fruit, dark cherries and ashy smoke with a fine spice. On the palate it is oily and structured, with phenolic smoke, the sweetness of red grapes and a slight saltiness. The finish is very long and warming, smoky and dry.
