Caol Ila – 17 Year Old Darkness (50cl, 46.6%)

This is a 17-year-old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, part of the Darkness collection from the independent bottler Atom Brands. It was bottled at 46.6% ABV in a 50cl bottle, without filtration or added colouring. After its initial maturation it was finished in small Oloroso sherry octave casks. Darkness whiskies are matured in hand-made sherry octaves, usually around 50 litres, where the small size brings more contact between spirit and wood. The result is a rich, intense whisky with natural colour.
