This is a 46 year old single cask Caol Ila from Islay, selected by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection. It was distilled on 30 September 1976 and bottled in November 2022 at 45.8%, in a 70cl bottle. Cask 8102 gave just 132 bottles, and no colouring was added.
The nose combines fine peat smoke with ripe fruit, citrus zest, sea air and soft vanilla. The palate is oily, with sweet fruit, malt, caramel and spicy oak, the smoke still present. The finish is long, with smoke, fruit, a fine saltiness and aged wood.
