A 42 year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, distilled on 8 November 1983 and bottled on 25 June 2026 at 46.8% in a 70cl bottle. It comes from a single hogshead, cask 5295, which gave 217 bottles, and forms part of Signatory Vintage's Cask Strength Collection.
After four decades the strength has eased naturally to just under 47%. The peat smoke is quiet, which lets white fruit, honey and wax come forward.
The nose shows Williams pear, candied lemon, coconut milk, lemon verbena and vanilla around very delicate peat. On the palate, sandy peat meets banana, pineapple and almond. The finish carries twig smoke, fine ash and salty sea air.
