This is a 38 year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, distilled in 1984 and bottled on 23 March 2023 by Gordon & MacPhail for its Connoisseurs Choice series. It was matured in a single refill American hogshead, cask 3122, which gave 150 bottles.
It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 53.3%, in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The nose combines pineapple, mango and banana with smoke. On the palate, cured meat comes first, followed by pear, lime and mint leaves. The long finish leaves citrus notes and a hint of campfire embers.
