This is an independent bottling of Caol Ila single malt from Islay, bottled for The Ultimate at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled on 9 February 2007 and bottled in April 2023, after 16 years of maturation, the last 28 months of them in a first-fill Oloroso butt. It is natural colour, and the outturn is 202 bottles.
The nose shows sherry-cask character, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, nuts, coffee and spice, plus a pleasant peat smoke. On the palate peat and smoke meet caramel, balsamic, nutmeg and orgeat. The finish is long and warm, with smoke, spice and oak.
