Caol Ila – 2012 8 Years (Chapter 7) (70cl, 51.4%)

This single cask Caol Ila was distilled in September 2012 and matured for 8 years in a refill bourbon hogshead. Chapter 7 bottled it in April 2021 at a cask strength of 51.4% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited edition of 301 bottles, natural in colour and not chill-filtered, supplied in a cardboard box. The nose combines lingering bonfire, creamy vanilla, iodine, wet peat, driftwood and toffee apple. On the palate come citrus, shellfish, orchard fruit and creamy caramel with caramelised sugar. The finish is long and slightly sharp, smoky, with peppered malt and lemon.
