This Caol Ila is a single cask Islay single malt, distilled on 1 April 2016 and bottled on 21 June 2021 by The Single Cask at cask strength, 57.3%, in a 70cl bottle. It spent five years in a first-fill ex-bourbon barrel, which adds a firm sweetness to the smoky spirit.
It is bottled without colouring and without chill-filtering.
The nose is strong smoke, tar, oak and vanilla. The palate runs through soot, oak, vanilla and honey. The finish is long and ashy, ending on a sweet vanilla note.
