This is a single cask Caol Ila from Islay, bottled by the independent bottler The Maltman. It was distilled in 2016, matured for eight years in a bourbon hogshead and bottled in 2024 at 53.9% ABV. The outturn is 303 bottles, and it is non-chill-filtered and free of added colour.
The nose is coastal, with damp harbour ropes, cigar leaves and citrus. On the palate come peat smoke, rich chocolate fudge and a hint of charred lemon, with dried banana chips appearing after a little time in the glass. The finish is soft and warming, with black pepper and salted liquorice.
