This is a Caol Ila from Islay, distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2025 at nine years old. It matured entirely in new American oak barrels and was bottled at 48% for The Single Malts of Scotland, the series Elixir Distillers has run since 2005.
Five barrels were selected and combined for this small batch. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose combines fine peat smoke, a sea breeze and lively citrus with soft vanilla sweetness. On the palate smoke leads, with lemon, vanilla and pepper, a creamy texture and salty minerality. The finish is long, with salty sea notes, peat smoke, spice and citrus.
