This is the 2022 Distillers Edition from Caol Ila, a single malt from Islay. It has been finished in ex-Moscatel wine casks, which add soft fruit and warming spices to the distillery's clean, smoky character. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is coastal peat with damp ashes and a hint of dried apricot. On the palate the smoke is full-flavoured with a sweeter, barbecue edge, alongside pepper and cinnamon. The finish stays smoky.
