Caol Ila – Moch (70cl, 43%)

Caol Ila Moch is a heavily smoky Islay single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. Moch is Gaelic for dawn. It was the first single malt Caol Ila put together purely according to its own idea of flavour, rather than to a set age, cask type, strength or finish. The body is light and soft. The whisky is chill-filtered and contains added colouring. The nose combines smoke and medicinal, antiseptic notes with the salty impression of damp sand left by a retreating tide. Sweet and salty tones meet a balancing acidity on the palate, with medicinal touches and peat smoke. The finish is short and dry, with a little bitterness and lingering smoke.
