This is a 14 year old Islay single malt from Caol Ila, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Spirit of Scotland series. Stuart Urquhart chose a first fill sherry hogshead, in which the whisky matured from 2012 to 2026 and took on a deep mahogany colour.
The cask gave 294 bottles at a cask strength of 55.9%, without added colouring and without chill-filtration.
Smoke runs alongside stewed apples, orange peel and butterscotch, and coffee beans linger in the finish.
