Cardhu 14 Year Old is a cask strength single malt from the 2019 Special Releases, bottled at 55%.
It comes from a trial batch that was matured twice, for far longer than is usual, in hogsheads that previously held Amontillado sherry.
The nose is soft and dry, with rich orchard fruit: pears, peaches and cherries with a touch of banana. It turns floral with time, bringing lily of the valley and vanilla custard. The palate is smooth and creamy, with fudge-like sweetness, then warm spice. The finish is spicy, with a lingering warmth.
