Cardhu – 14 Year Old Special Release 2021 (55.5%)

This is the 2021 Special Release Cardhu, a 14 year old single malt bottled at 55.5%. It has a colour of pale polished brass with gold highlights and a light to medium body. The nose is fresh and lightly fruity, with white grape, lychee, green apple, pear and a little orange peel, plus a gentle spice from the wine-spiced wood. Water brings out meadow flowers that turn to honey. The palate is soft, creamy and fairly full, with homemade caramels, parma violets, red apple and pear, and clean oak. The finish is short, sweet and warming, with lingering perfume and a pinch of white pepper once water is added.
