Cardhu 16 Year Old Special Release 2022 is a Speyside single malt in the Diageo Elusive Expressions collection, bottled at 58% in a 70cl bottle. It matured in refill and re-charred American oak, then took a finish in Jamaican pot still rum casks, which adds a tropical note to Cardhu's honeyed character.
The nose is mineral with a touch of varnish, then pear skin, brown sugar, pineapple, plums, honey and biscuits. The palate is creamy and fruity, with grapefruit, mango, tangerine, almonds and orange liqueur. The finish is medium, with honey, mango and gentle warming spices.
