A 16 year old Cardhu from the 2022 Special Release series, bottled at 58%. It has been finished in Jamaican rum casks, which add a tropical sweetness to the malt.
The nose opens with lemon peel and white grape, then pink grapefruit and ripe mango over a faintly mossy base, with a spicy, woody note behind. A drop of water brings out a pinch of white pepper.
The palate is creamy, smooth and full, with fruity, malty sweetness, rum toffee, spiced pineapple and green banana, and spice from the oak. The finish is fairly short, sweet and peppery.
