Cardhu 18 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the Cardhu Distillery in Knockando, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It matured for 18 years, mostly in bourbon barrels with some sherry casks.
The character is soft and fruity, with chocolate notes and a velvety texture. The nose opens slowly, with macerated pears, plums and cherries, a touch of pineapple and gooseberry, then wild rose, menthol, polished leather, Christmas cake and shortbread. The palate is soft, sweet and velvety, with a lively acidity and fruit that blends into chocolate. The finish is long and smooth, turning gently dry with clear cocoa.
