Cardhu Gold Reserve is a Speyside single malt bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Cardhu takes its name from the Gaelic for black rock, after the dark rocks of the nearby Mannoch Hills.
John Cumming founded the distillery in 1810 at his parents' farm, using barley from their own land and water from a spring in the hills. It was rebuilt in 1961 and now has three wash stills and three spirit stills, heated by steam, with eight Scandinavian larch washbacks. Maturation is in refill casks only.
