Caroni – 1997 Sprits Shop Selection For Taipei Bar Show 2017 is a rum from Caroni (Trinidad and Tobago). Bottled at 59.6% ABV, 70cl. Established in 1918 as a single estate distillery in Trinidad and Tobago, Caroni owned and self-supplied its own sugar cane crop and operating at near full capacity until 1993. Unfortunately, due to industry consolidation, the distillery closed in 2002 and was almost lost to history when Luca Gargano from Italy happened upon the boarded up distillery in 2004. After learning about its sad fate and that the warehouse was still full of barrels, Luca spent the next few years ensuring the barrels were sold and bottled so that we can enjoy this fantastic - and now very collectable - rum today. This release features a Tibetan Buddha on the label called Dakini which means ‘Space Dancer’ and is said to represent courage and wisdom and embodies both humanity and divinity within buddhism.
