Caroni – 1998 22 Year Old Tortuga Edition #1 is a rum from Caroni (Trinidad and Tobago). Aged 22 years, bottled at 66.1% ABV, 70cl. Established in 1918 as a single estate distillery in Trinidad and Tobago, Caroni owned and self-supplied its own sugar cane crop and operating at near full capacity until 1993. Unfortunately, due to industry consolidation, the distillery closed in 2002 and was almost lost to history when Luca Gargano from Italy happened upon the boarded up distillery in 2004. After learning about its sad fate and that the warehouse was still full of barrels, Luca spent the next few years ensuring the barrels were sold and bottled so that we can enjoy this fantastic - and now very collectable - rum today. Tortuga No.1 Edition This Tortuga Series has been created in partnership with the SeaTurtle Conservancy to assist in the support of Sea Turtles. This exciting 22 year old bottle is therefore not only a great dram for you to enjoy, but you can also scan the QR code on the bottle and track a school of sea turtles supported by the partnership!
