Casamigos Joven Mezcal (70cl, 40%)

Casamigos Joven is a mezcal made in Oaxaca, Mexico, in small batches from 100% Espadín agave. It was created by George Clooney and Rande Gerber and is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The agave hearts are slow-roasted for days in pit ovens lined with volcanic rock, then crushed by a stone tahona wheel. Fermentation runs naturally for up to six days, followed by double distillation in copper pot stills. The nose is smoke, earthy agave, fresh herbs and citrus peel, with black pepper and mint as it opens. The palate is silky, with roasted agave, white pepper, smoked almond, lemon zest and a little sweetness. The finish is clean, with gentle smoke and pepper.
